Privacy Policy
Effective 5 November 2026
This notice explains what personal data Ediga Vivaha collects, why, who can see it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It is written to meet Section 5 of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and Rule 3 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025. Ediga Vivaha is the Data Fiduciary for your data, and you are the Data Principal.
Who we are
Ediga Vivaha is a matrimony app for the Ediga community, operated from India. For anything about your data, write to support@edigavivaha.in. This notice is in English; if you would like it in Kannada or another language listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, ask us and we will send it.
What we collect

We do not collect your phone contacts, your precise location or advertising identifiers, and the app shows no advertising.
The legal basis
We process your data on your consent (Section 6 of the Act). Continuing past the sign-in screen is your consent to the processing described here, and each profile step you fill in and the video you submit are your consent for that data. You can withdraw consent at any time by pausing your profile, which hides it from everyone, or by deleting your account, which removes your data as described below. Withdrawal does not affect what was done lawfully before it.
Separately, we may process data without consent only where Section 7 of the Act allows it, such as to comply with Indian law or to respond to a lawful request from an Indian authority.
Who can see your data
- Other verified members see the parts of your profile that are designed to be shown: your first name, age, city, occupation, photos, prompt answers and the detail sections, and your last name only on your full profile. Nobody sees your date of birth, email address, phone number or verification video. A member you have liked, but not yet matched with, sees only a blurred photo and what you liked, not your name, age or city.
- Our reviewers, the people who run Ediga Vivaha, see your video and photos to verify you and see reported conversations to handle reports. Every action they take is logged.
- Service providers that process data for us under contract: Supabase, which stores the database and files and runs sign-in on servers in Mumbai, India; Google, for sign-in and, when you enable them, push notifications through Firebase; Render, which runs the app’s server; Vercel, which runs this website and our admin panel; and Cloudflare, which carries network traffic. They may process your data only on our instructions.
- Authorities, when Indian law requires us to share data.
We never sell personal data and never share it with advertisers.
Where your data lives
Your profile, photos, video and messages are stored in Mumbai, India. The server that runs the app currently runs in Singapore, so data passes through it while a request is being handled, but it is not stored there. We keep this under review and will move the server to India when we can.
How long we keep it
- Your profile, photos, likes, matches and messages: for as long as your account exists.
- Your verification video: deleted automatically within 30 days of the review decision. A video you started uploading but never submitted is deleted within 30 days too.
- Technical logs: no longer than 90 days.
- When you delete your account, your profile, photos, videos, likes, matches and messages are deleted. A conversation that is part of an open safety report is kept until the report is handled, then deleted. Our reviewers’ action log keeps a record of decisions about the account under an internal identifier.
Your rights
Under Chapter III of the Act you can:
- See your data (Section 11). Ask us for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and who it has been shared with.
- Correct it (Section 12). Edit your profile in the app at any time, or write to us for anything you cannot change yourself.
- Erase it (Section 12). Delete your account from Settings in the app, or ask us from the delete your account page.
- Nominate someone (Section 14) to exercise these rights for you if you die or are unable to. Write to us with their details.
- Raise a grievance (Section 13). Write to support@edigavivaha.in with the subject “Privacy”. We acknowledge your message within 24 hours and reply within 15 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India through the Board’s online complaint portal.
Age
Ediga Vivaha is only for adults. We check the date of birth you give at sign-up, and we remove any account that turns out to belong to someone under 18.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections. Access to the database and files is restricted to the app’s own server and to our reviewers, whose actions are logged. Photos shown to a member you have not matched with are blurred on our server before they are sent. No system is perfectly secure, so if a data breach ever affects you we will tell you and notify the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
Changes to this notice
When this notice changes we will post the new version here with a new effective date, and tell you in the app if the change matters to you.
